The latest legislation means that every employer is required to automatically enrol their staff if they meet the following criteria:
- are aged between 22 and State Pension age
- earn more than £9,440 a year
- work in the UK
- By law, this means you’ll also have to make a contribution to your employee’s pensions.
There are varying times where you must being to auto-enrol and the staging dates depend on the size of your PAYE as at April 2012.
All businesses with greater than 249 employees must now be actively auto-enroling.
For those with 160-246, the staging date is 1 April 2014, and for those between 90-159, the date is the 1st May 2014.This continues through until 1 February 2018 for employers with fewer employers.
